I really enjoyed this story. Raina and Christian were wonderful. I totally get why he had to pretend he was a maintenance guy in order to find out what was happening at his hotels. It wouldn't have been a story. Loved Kelly. I hope she finds herself a guy who would cherish her the way Christian cherished Raina. I hope they castrate Roger the perv. Loved her nieces and nephew. Those kids were wise beyond their years. Thank you! 👍❤️😄
I liked the premise, normally I stay away from Billionaire themes. But, the undercover boss was cute. Too bad that were quite a few noticeable errors. Narcissus(narcissist), one minute his eyes were grey and the next he's describing them as brown. Her brother-in-law's name switched from Byron to Bryce and back again. I do love supporting African American authors and reading stories featuring characters that look like me. I did love that Raina was just a normal working woman, who was doing her best to pay her bills(she was very relatable). Raina was feisty, compassionate and a smart. Roger was described very well, I could picture the old perv from the vivid details Mia wrote.
Just average, ok read. Nothing spectacular or melt your panties sexy about this read. Picture the tv show Undercover Boss (I've never seen it but the premise, I get) add a romance with a villain and you have this book. There was such potential with the storyline involving Raina and her nieces and nephew she was raising but the author just missed the mark. It was an book that wanted to grow up to a good book but just couldn't make it. 2.5 stars.
This is a great story. Christian goes undercover to catch a thief at one of his hotels, but he's on a collision course with the love of his. life. Raina is the hotel manager, who hires her boss , who is in disguise to catch a thief. Sparks fly almost immediately. Their love is powerful, but will it survive a misunderstanding that shakes them to their knees. Christian has tunnel vision and is stuck in the past. Raina is too nice, and doesn't fight to be heard. This is wonderful story with a very happy ending
Raiana has a heart of gold. She looked out for people in need and gave them a second chance. When, Christian came along to go under cover I thought he could have done a better job than he did. It seemed like he was always running away from the information instead of looking into it. Although he was distracted by Raiana he did a poor job of investigating his on business. Raiana, held herself together for the kids sake but still longed for Christian. What surprised me was Kelly taking reigns to bring pervy Roger down. It doesn't strike me that contacting regional branches they direct you to Lowe management that is in the real world and innocent people losses their jobs. Great story.
Raina is proud of the work she does as hotel manager, but she's got plenty on her plate for two or three people. Chris falls for her as a handyman, but his CEO reality, plus some accusations against his attractive boss, have created significant barriers to them getting together.
It's cute; a couple of really noticeable typos. Low on the steam, but it's there. Race issues weren't necessarily addressed heavily, but did get mentioned a couple of times.
I enjoyed the book but there were some plot holes for me. I felt the kids would have noticed Christians change in eye color and hair color when he came back. They weren't inquisitive at all and continued to trust him. Raina forgave Christian way too easily. I felt like he should have fought harder for her. Plus there was no closure for Roger. We didn't see how he found out he was caught or his reaction. I felt like the readers deserved to see him squirm. Plus Christian didn't seem to do much of an investigation and didn't hire a forensic accountant in conjunction with his "undercover work". Other than that the book had a strong beginning and middle but I was let down how things were so easy for Christian. Plus the inheriting medical bills did not make sense. Plus most women know how easy it is to bring down a company with a sexual harrasment complaint. I dont understand why she just didn't get evidence and either go to HR, an outside civil liberties group or leak to the news. This day an age a complaint like that carries a lot of weight and someone like Roger would not be able to get away with sexually harrassing over 23 women and get away with it. If you ignore the plot holes, its a intriguing plot.
